Photo Album021307: a day of meeting peopleFeb 20, '07 8:35 AM
for everyone
even with such a tiring first day, ayeen and i still had the energy to follow our timetable. we woke up at 7am, got ready, and was out the door at 820am, 10 minutes ahead of schedule.

we didn't want to make the same expensive mistake as previous day's lunch, so we hunted around for a good place to have breakfast in. we ended up settling for a cafe de coral, which seems like the breakfast place to be. it's always full, but amazingly, the waiting time isn't long. the food is cheap and filling too: hkd18 for a pork congee and rice dumpling.

after that, we set off for the holiday inn golden mile at tsim sha tsui, to attend the secrets of pearl shopping class. the talk was hosted by alex chan, sales manager of president jewellery. the class was highly informative. i am now confident in shopping for pearls.

we skipped along nathan road after the class, and found a tiny street where trinkets were sold. ken, the vendor, spoke impeccable english, which made it easier for us to spend on the chinese zodiac trinkets that they have.

after that, we went back to central, to ifc mall, where the bus terminus is. while waiting for bus 6x (to stanley), we chatted up two pinays who have been working in hong kong. they gave us some tips about the fare and places to see.

lunch (finally, we got hungry) was at stanley restaurant, where ayeen and i had noodles! i got a 17-dollar wanton noodle soup, which lasted me until dinner.

after lunch, we walked to the murray house, where the hong kong maritime museum can be found. we were to join a guided tour at 230. the chap who led the tour is quite hilarious! i think he knows the history of sailing like the back of his hand.

when we were there, it was just perfect! we were expecting the temperature to be down to 10 degrees, but fortunately, it played around 19 to 23. it was the hottest chinese new year daw to date. :D (i bring hotness wherever i go. :p)

you should go again! a lot has changed! :D they have a lot of free activities for tourists, too!
